The Perfect Nose Blog – Cloning Ready-To-Wear Men’s Underwear (also found on BurdaStyle)

  • Level: Advanced Beginner
  • Size: Whatever size you decide to trace
  • Format: Online tutorial which can be downloaded as a PDF.  Please note this is not a printable pattern.

Description:

This is a really great tutorial on how to copy ready-to-wear underwear by The Perfect Nose Blog.  I initially found this on BurdaStyle but you can use either tutorial. This uses the “pinning technique”  where you pin your garment to your pattern paper essentially creating an outline of your pattern pieces with pin holes.  You then will go back and trace your pinholes with a pencil and french curve then add seam allowance. It is an effective technique that can result in accurate sizing.  This project is definitely worth a try! Make sure to use brand new boxer briefs to avoid inaccuracies with worn out seams.
